Ferrero reinforces its commitment to Normandy with new industrial investments in Seine-Maritime

Ferrero is continuing to expand its operations in Normandy through a new investment programme that further strengthens the region’s strategic role within the group’s industrial and logistics network across Europe.

In total, Ferrero has announced €60 million in investments in France. A significant share of this funding will be directed towards Seine-Maritime, where the company is continuing to modernise its historic Villers-Écalles site and develop new production capacities serving both French and European markets.

A Normandy site at the heart of global Nutella production

Located near Rouen for more than 60 years, the Villers-Écalles plant is now the world’s largest Nutella production facility, accounting for approximately 26% of the brand’s global output. To support continued growth and enhance the competitiveness of its operations, Ferrero is investing €15 million in the ongoing industrial and environmental transformation of the site. This initiative forms part of a long-term modernisation strategy aimed at improving industrial performance while reducing the environmental footprint of production activities. The group is also committing an additional €15 million to develop a new packaging line dedicated to 3 kg Nutella tubs for professional customers. This newproduction capacity will further strengthen the Normandy site’s position in high value-added markets.

A long-term industrial commitment

Over recent years, Ferrero has continued to invest heavily in Normandy to support the growth of its operations. This strategy has included the ongoing modernisation of the Villers-Écalles facility, alongside the development of new logistics infrastructure in Cléon and Barentin. Through these projects, the company is reaffirming its long-term commitment to Normandy and contributing to the reputation of a regional agri-food sector recognised across Europe.

Positive impacts for the regional economy

These investments demonstrate Ferrero’s continued confidence in Normandy’s industrial ecosystem and the expertise available across the region. They also help preserve and develop industrial know-how in Normandy while enhancing the region’s attractiveness for future investment projects. With nearly €210 million invested in France since 2021 across its industrial, logistics and environmental facilities, Ferrero is reaffirming Normandy’s central role in both its growth strategy and its wider European industrial footprint.
