In La Ferté-Macé, some companies are an integral part of the local landscape and Bagster is one of them. Since 1984, this Normandy-based company has been manufacturing motorcycle equipment recognised across Europe, combining artisanal expertise with industrial innovation.
After facing major challenges, the company has entered a new chapter in its history following its acquisition by the Italian group Acerbis, a leading international player in the motorcycle industry. This move marks a strategic turning point, enabling Bagster to embrace an international growth trajectory, strengthen its product offering, and consolidate its position in evolving markets. However, a takeover alone is not enough. To sustainably revive its activity, Bagster has undertaken a transformation of both its business model and its industrial facilities. Modernising equipment, expanding its product range, and opening up to new markets are all key levers driving a return to growth.
This recovery plan is also supported by a structured industrial investment programme. In this context, AD Normandie is supporting the company through its “Impulsion Développement Investissement” scheme, notably by granting a €50,000 interest-free loan aimed at acquiring high-performance production equipment. This support is helping to modernise the industrial tool and accelerate the ramp-up of operations.
Today, the results are tangible. The La Ferté-Macé site continues its operations, preserves its 37 jobs, and looks confidently to the future. Behind these figures lie skills, expertise and a Norman industrial heritage, all of which continue to thrive and evolve. Bagster is a clear illustration of the ability of Normandy-based companies to reinvent themselves. By relying on a strong industrial partner, a renewed strategy, and the support of regional public stakeholders, the company demonstrates that economic recovery and local roots can go hand in hand.
