Siemens Gamesa invests more than €200 million in Le Havre, strengthening Europe’s offshore wind industry

With an investment of more than €200 million in 2025, Siemens Gamesa is continuing the expansion of its manufacturing facility in Le Havre. This latest phase further cements Normandy’s position as a leading hub for offshore wind energy while enhancing the region’s attractiveness for industries driving the energy transition. Opened in 2022, Siemens Gamesa’s

Le Havre plant continues to ramp up production. The site’s expansion, opened in June 2026, represents an industrial investment of over €200 million. It adds 12,700 m² of production space, bringing the facility’s total footprint to almost 80,000 m². This supports the manufacture of next-generation components for the offshore wind sector.

Production focused on the European market

Since the beginning of 2026, the Le Havre facility has been manufacturing 115-metre blades – among the largest currently available on the market – for Siemens Gamesa’s 14 MW offshore wind turbines. These components are primarily intended to meet growing demand across Europe, as offshore wind projects accelerate and European industrial capacity expands to support the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. The plant has already supplied components for several French offshore wind farms, including Fécamp, Saint-Brieuc, Yeu–Noirmoutier, Dieppe–Le Tréport and Courseulles-sur-Mer, showcasing the expertise developed in Normandy in support of the energy transition.

A catalyst for economic development in Normandy

Beyond the industrial investment itself, the project is helping to strengthen an entire regional supply chain. The site’s expansion is expected to create around 200 additional direct jobs and, over time, support an ecosystem representing up to 1,600 direct and indirect jobs across manufacturing, logistics, port operations and subcontracting. Supported through France’s Green Industry Investment Tax Credit (C3IV), the project reflects a broader ambition to reinforce Europe’s industrial capabilities in clean energy technologies while promoting manufacturing within Europe.

Le Havre: a strategic industrial and port hub

Located at the heart of HAROPA PORT, the facility benefits from port infrastructure specifically designed for the manufacture, storage and shipment of oversized components. This strategic location provides a significant competitive advantage in serving future European offshore wind projects and further reinforces Le Havre’s role as a leading industrial and port hub, particularly for the offshore wind sector. The scale of this investment highlights the strong industrial momentum underway in Normandy’s renewable energy sector and further enhances the region’s appeal to international investors and companies involved in the energy transition.
